Obituary of Howard Hazen Harris

It is with sadness that Howard’s family announces his passing at the Carleton Kirk Lodge on Tuesday, April 21, 2020. Born on May 24, 1929, Howard was a son of the late Chester and Myrtle (Dewitt) Harris. He was the ninth of seventeen children. He retired from CP Rail in 1986 after 44 years of service where he worked as a Machine Operator, Section and Extra Gang Foreman. Following his retirement he worked at various other part time jobs and also enjoyed working in his woodworking shop where he turned out articles of household furnishing and lawn ornaments. Howard was a member of Mission Point United Pentecostal Church, he dearly loved his church family and his Pastor Reverend Brent Carter. Howard is survived by Marion, his wife of 63 years, one son Randy (Dawn) Harris, and four daughters; Lorraine (Gilbert) Ouellette, Elaine (Steve) Lumb, Angela Harris (Jason Butts), and Shelley (Joe) Berdan, nine grandchildren; Michael (Victoria) Harris, Melissa (Roland) Sturgeon, Rebecca Harris, Rachel (Mike) Theriault, Drake and Andrew Moreland, Hazen and James Berdan, and Feysal Ali, seven great grandchildren; Logan, Kyla, Randi, Kohen, Lucas and Gideon Sturgeon, and Julia Harris. Brothers; Keith, Arthur, Erwin, Donald (Renna), Travis (Betty), and Alden (Mary), sisters; Marie Pollock, Hilda Ball and Edith Ball, sister in law Ursula Harris, special friend Anthony Clark and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents Howard is predeceased by his brothers; Foster, Gordon, Gilford, Elmer and Wallace, sisters; Eloice and Delia, parents in law Ernest and Bessie Howe, special brother in law George Howe, and several sisters and brothers in law. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3 506-634-1701. At Howard’s request there will be no visitation. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Donations in Howard’s memory can be made to Mission Point United Pentecostal Church, Campobello Island United Pentecostal Church or the charity of the donor’s choice.
