Obituary of Shirley Margaret Hoyt

It is with broken hearts that the family of Shirley Margaret Hoyt wish to announce her passing on Monday October 26, 2020 at Embassy Hall, Quispamsis, N.B. Born in Saskatchewan in 1929, Shirley was a daughter of the late William Henry and Lily Elizabeth Beatrice (Smith) Cowan. Shirley was a very active and long time member of Fundamental Baptist Church. Shirley loved to garden, and knit, she was an avid baker, and travelled extensively on bus tours etc. She loved to spend time with her family and friends. Shirley is survived by one son, David Hoyt, of Ottawa, one daughter, Nancy (John) Griffin, of Darlings Island, one brother, Barry (Peggy) Rigby, of Saint John, 5 grandchildren, Andrew Griffin, Gail Clark, Sally Lyons, Benjamin “Ben” Hoyt, and Victoria Hoyt, 5 Great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Shirley was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert Wellington Hoyt (1991), and her daughter, Ruth Hoyt. Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, N.B. (634 1701) have been entrusted with the arrangements. A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2020 at Fundamental Baptist Church, 1170 Sand Cove Rd, Saint John, N.B., from 2:00 to 6:00 pm . A funeral service will be held on Friday October 30, 2020 at Fundamental Baptist Church at 11:00 am. A reception will follow after the service. Interment will take place in Blissville Cemetery.
