Obituary of Susan Gail Reid

It is with profound sadness and heartbreak that we announce the passing of Susan Gail Reid at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Friday, November 20, 2020, after a brief and very courageous battle with cancer. Born in Saint John, NB on December 17, 1966, she was the only child of William Robert and Alta Margaret (Adams) Long both of Saint John. She is survived by her Mother, Alta (Mert), her uncles, Bruce Adams of BC and Charles Adams of Woodstock, her beloved dog Ben and her bunny rabbit Charlie. She is also survived by many cousins, her best friend Cora-Lee Parkhill of Quispamsis, as well as her work family at RST/Sunbury. Susan was predeceased by her father, William and many aunts and uncles. Susan worked for Covey Stationary of Fredericton before moving to Saint John, where she was hired by RST Industries in 1996. She worked as a Compliance Coordinator in the Safety Department as well as on the RST Emergency Response Team. Susan was a trail blazer in the trucking industry and paved the way for many who followed her. Her dedication and knowledge were unmatched, and she was tenacious in upholding her high work ethic. Susan led by example and was the first one to step up when she saw a need. She loved all animals and rescued countless cats and bunnies over the years, providing a loving home for all. Susan was a long-time season ticket holder with the Seadogs and always loved being at the rink to cheer on “her Boys”. Her zest for life and infectious laugh will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Those wishing to make donations in Susan’s name, can do so to the Fairvale Animal Hospital, the SPCA or the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, N.B. (634- 1701). Due to current Covid-19 restrictions, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Interment will take place later.
