Obituary of Raymond Theodore Arthurs

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Raymond “Bud” Theodore Arthurs announces his passing at home on June 9, 2020. Raymond was born on January 8, 1936, in Saint John, NB to the late Raymond Joseph and Ruth Valerie (Sprague) Arthurs. Bud was a member of the Canadian Army Artillery Reserves and he enjoyed hosting military maneuvers at his property in Lorneville. He rose through the ranks to acting Captain and wrote his Major papers. Bud enjoyed working for Irving Oil for 33 years, travelling throughout the Atlantic provinces. He retired in 2000. Bud loved all the family pets and has rescued several animals over his lifetime. Bud formed many friendships in West Saint John while walking his beloved dogs. Bud was known for his festive Christmas lights, beautiful gardens, and the cleanest car in the city. Bud will be dearly missed by his daughters Susan Rae Ames (John) of Halifax, NS, and Cassandra Dawn Russell (Wayne) of Woodstock, NB, sister Val Ricketts (Leander Boudreau) of Saint John, five grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3. Cremation has taken place and interment will be held at a later date.
