Obituary of William ‘Bill’ Leslie Gray

William ‘Bill’ Leslie Gray passed away peacefully, Sunday, May 17th, 2020 at Ridgewood Veterans Wing. Bill was born on December 8, 1930 in Saint John, NB to the late Murray and Violet Gray. Bill was a proud Canadian Veteran, he served in the Korean War from 1950-1952. He received the Ambassador for Peace Medal from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in 2019 for his service during the war. After the war, Bill worked in the Saint John City Market for 35 years at Dean’s Meats as a Butcher, retiring in 1992. Bill was an avid sports fan, especially for the Boston Bruins. He also owned a Saint John Senior B Hockey Team from 1986-1990. Bill will be sadly missed by his children; Bill Gray Jr. (Cindy), Phil Gray (Andrea), and Sandra Mckinney (Austin), sister Mary (Robert) Lee, seven grandchildren; Colleen, Jason, Jeff, Bill, Andrew, Catherine and Jonathan, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Bill is predeceased by his parents, his wife Carole (Thorne) Gray of 65 years, brothers; Murray, Alan, Peter, John and David, and sisters; Shirley, Margaret, Dorothy and Rose. Bill’s family would like to thank the nurses of Liberty Lane at Ridgewood Veterans Wing for all their care and compassion during Bill’s stay. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3, and 506-634-1701. Due to Covid-19 restrictions a Private Family Graveside Service will be held in Greenwood Cemetery.
