Obituary of Robert Storen Landry

In his 95th year Robert “Bob” Storen Landry died peacefully on Monday, June 29, 2020 at the Ridgewood Veterans Wing surrounded by his sons. Bob was born on July 29, 1925 in Saint John, NB to the late John and Jane (Kitchen) Landry. He was the last surviving of his 7 siblings. He was a proud member of the Merchant Marines, travelling the world and aiding with the rebuilding efforts after WWII. Bob was a pipe-fitter/ welder for 40 years. He traveled throughout Canada for many years during his career, always having his home base in Saint John. He was a proud member of Local 213. Bob was a life-long member of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church. In his later years he enjoyed attending the Assumption Breakfasts and going to McDonald's with friends to have a coffee. Bob was a voracious fisherman and hunter; he loved tying his own flys, trap and skeet shooting, going fishing for trout at many local lakes and salmon fishing in the Miramichi. Bob also enjoyed going out West to hunt geese on The Great Canadian Flyway once a year. He was an avid reader and his literature of choice would often be about hunting, fishing or nature. He truly enjoyed the great outdoors. Bob is survived by his sons; Rob Landry (Belinda) of Saint John, and Romeo Nadeau (Paulette) of Nova Scotia, grandchildren; Tracey Nadeau-Bish, Joshua Landry and Justine Landry, great grandchildren; Callum and Keegan Bish, and several nieces and nephews. Bob is predeceased by his parents, his wife of 33 years Mary Alice Landry (Nadeau) (Guimond), brothers; Edward, William, Jack, and George, sisters; Mary Knight, Ellen Trainor and (baby) Virtie, granddaughter Kimberley Nadeau, niece Louise Ireton (Landry) and nephews; Andre Landry and Rod Landry. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3, 506-634-1701. *Please be advised due to the public health situation only limited amount of visitors are allowed entry and a mask must be worn when entering the church.* Visitation will be held at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church on Saturday, July 4th, 2020 from 9:30 AM – 10:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 AM. Private Family Interment will be held in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Bob’s memory can be made to Canadian National Institute for the Blind, Bobby’s Hospice or the charity of the donor’s choice.
