Obituary of Harold J. Kingston

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Harold "Lally" Joseph Kingston which occurred on Monday March 7, 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born March 21, 1928 he was the son of the late William and Lorena (Conroy) Kingston. Harold worked for 36 years as a Firefighter before retiring as a Lieutenant. He and Doreen spent over 50 years trailering at Green Acers and Harding’s Point. Harold was a season ticket holder and dedicated fan of the Saint John Flames and Saint John Sea Dogs. He was an avid pool player and horseshoe player and was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Harold will be sadly missed by loving wife of 65 years Doreen (Downey); daughters Brenda (Ron) McGrath and Lisa Kingston; sons Brian (Elaine) Kingston, David (Barbara) Kingston all of Saint John, NB; grandchildren Sara Kingston, Tara Kingston, Christina Kingston, step grandsons Mark (Cassie) Ackerson, Keith (Kristine) Ackerson; 4 step great grandchildren. Besides his parents Harold was predeceased by daughter Patricia Lee Kingston; sisters Marion Malloy, Eileen Black; brothers Ronald, Raymond, William, Michael, Kevin and Murray. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John (634-1701). Visitation will be held on Thursday March 10, 2016 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm & 6:00 – 8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church on Friday March 11, 2016 at 12:00noon. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Donations in Harold’s memory can be made to IWK Hospital, Alzheimer’s Society or the charity of one’s choice.
