Obituary of Charles David Lawrence

Charles David Lawrence passed away peacefully on Friday February 19, 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB he was the son of the late Charles and Muriel (Kelly) Lawrence. Charles worked for CNRail for many years before retiring in 1985. He was a lifelong resident of the west side and an avid crib player. Charles will be sadly missed by daughter Kelli (John Gross) Bell of Ottawa, ON; brothers Douglas (Mary) Lawrence of Rothesay, NB, Raymond (Margaret) Garrett and Ernest Day both of Saint John, NB; sisters Donna (Seth) Weston of Montana, USA, Mary Kendall of Newfoundland; grandsons Dylan and Riley Bell; nieces Linda Moyle, Patty Maclellan, Debbie Meloche, as well as several other nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by longtime friends Brad and Helen McCluskey and Danny Bell. Besides his parents Charles was predeceased by sister Pearl Simonds; brothers Ralph, Harold, Cecil and Eddie Vantassel. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John (634-1701). A funeral Service will be held from Castle Funeral Home Chapel on Monday February 22, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Following the service the family will receive friends during a time of reception and fellowship at the Fallsview Reception Center. Donations in Charles’s memory can be made to the charity of one’s choice.
