Obituary of Mary Fitzgerald

It is with great sadness the family of Mrs. Mary Kathryn Fitzgerald announce her passing at the age of 97, following a brief illness on August 20, 2014 with her family by her side at the Carleton-Kirk Nursing Home. Born in Lakeville NB on April 7, 1917 she was a daughter of the late James and Rose (Mulheron) Dugan. Mary worked as a Paediatric nurse for many years at St Joseph's Hospital. Her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends, making a difference in the lives of all she met. Mary is survived by three sons James “Jim” Douglas (Melissa) of Hampton, Joseph “Joe” Murray (Anne) of Hampton and Richard “Dick” Michael of Fredericton; one daughter Rosemary Oakley (William “Bill”) of Dartmouth NS; seven grandchildren Jeffery, Meghan, Melanie, Natalie and Mathew Fitzgerald, Ryan and Daniel Oakley; one great-grandson Maxwell James Fitzgerald. As well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Murray Fitzgerald; two brothers Henry and Leo Dugan; as well as two sisters Teresa and Rita Gouthreau.To Honor Mrs. Fitzgerald’s wishes cremation will take place and visitation will be held on Monday, August 25, 2014 from 6-9pm at Castle Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Our Lady of the Assumption Church on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at 12 Noon. Donations made to the Carleton-Kirk Elevator Fund or to the charity of donor’s choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
