Obituary of V. Douglas Knorr

Doug is survived by his wife of 53 years Nancy (Herrington) Knorr and his son Craig of Saint John, NB. He was born in Saint John, NB in July 1933. He was the son of the late Roy and Florence (Powers) Knorr. Doug is also survived by sister in-law Lorraine Herrington, nieces Pat Lively and her family Karyn Fillmore (Peter) and Michael Lively (Jessica), Pamela Herrington Burnside and Avery, several cousins, 2 nieces and 2 nephews in Ontario. Doug attended Saint John Vocational School. He was employed with NB Power and Saint John Energy before retiring after 39 years. Doug enjoyed curling at Thistle and Carleton Curling Club. After retiring he played pool with many friends at Dooley’s on the West Side. He also enjoyed Lawn Bowling at Seaside Bowling club. He loved his “Coffee Group” each morning at Burger King. He enjoyed 35 years of summers with 3 other couples and missed it dearly when his health didn’t allow him to continue. Doug was predeceased by his parents, Roy and Florence Knorr and his sisters Lorraine Gallant of Hamilton, ON and Iris Johnson of Halifax, NS and his brother-in-law Byard Herrington, nephews David Lively and Paul Burnside. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John (634-1701). Visitation will be held on Thursday May 7, 2015 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. & 6:00-8:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held from Castle Funeral Home Chapel on Friday May 8, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. A reception will take place at Fallsview Reception Center. Donations in Douglas’ memory can be made to Rocmaura Palliative Care, Bobby’s Hospice or to the charity of one’s choice.
