Obituary of James "Jimmy" Cole

With heavy hearts, the family of James (Jimmy) William Cole announces his passing on February 10, 2017. Jimmy was born in Saint John on November 25, 1957, to the late Thomas and Valerie (Burke) Cole. Left to mourn his loss and remember him with love are his wife and best friend; Susan (Elward) Cole; daughters Jamie Anne and Christina Elizabeth Cole; his two brothers, John Thomas (Rowena) Cole, Donald Lawrence (Mary Beth) Cole; and sister, Judith “Judi” Anne (Charles) Crawford. Jimmy also leaves many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, a large musical “family” and circle of lifelong friends. Jimmy worked many years for Irving Pulp and Paper from where he retired in 2013. His favorite place to be was his camp in Pocologan, where he spent his time when not working and to where he and Sue moved to enjoy a simple rustic lifestyle following his retirement. He was an avid musician and loved nothing more than hosting open mic nights at local clubs and bars. He and Sue hosted their popular Blueberry Jam Sessions every summer in Pocologan where many musicians gathered. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends, and his big dog, Shaggy. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John (634-1701). Visitation will be on Sunday, February 12, 2017 from 2:00pm – 4:00pm and 6:00pm – 8:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 360 Dufferin Rd., at 12:00 noon on Monday, February 13, 2017. Interment to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim’s memory can be made to Bobby’s Hospice, where Jimmy received excellent and compassionate care during his last days.
