Obituary of Suzanne G. Hutton

It is with appreciation for a life well lived that the family of Suzanne G. (Sue) Hutton announces her passing, which occurred on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at Carleton Kirk Lodge Nursing Home. Born in Saint John, New Brunswick on July 18, 1921 she was the daughter of the late Ronald and Nina (Cochrane) Miller.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Robert Hutton (Bob), her sisters: Katherine (in infancy) and Harriet, and her granddaughter Brenda Hutton.

Sue was a graduate of MacDonald College in Montreal and worked during the later part of the war as a Dietician at the DVA Hospital in Saint John. She was an avid curler and she and Bob traveled to many Briers and World Curling events. She was the last living charter member of the Carleton Ladies Curling Association, served a term as president and was appointed an honorary life member of Carleton Curling Club. She was active in IODE and knit many items of clothing for children in Labrador.

Sue is survived by her daughter Sandra Morton (Allen), her sons Robert (RJ) (Anna Marie) and Ronald (Barbara) and her grandchildren, Heather, Tara, Janet, Rob, Ronald, and Austin. She loved to be with her great grandchildren who brought her much pleasure: Hannah and William Stephen; Myra, Carter and Rosie Leslie; Harry, Henry and Suzy (her namesake) Scott; Sylvie and Rachel Hutton; Taytum, Hannah, Gavin, Eja and AJ Hutton.

Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3, 506-634-1701. A Private Family Graveside comital will take place at Greenwood Cemetery. A reception in memory of Sue will take place at Carleton Curling Club December 28th 2:30 pm, 115 Rodney St., Saint John.
